On last count, 76 bird species have been sighted on the ranch, and wildflowers are abundant from early spring through fall. During fall migration we service more than 40 hummingbird feeders every other day, going through 125 pounds of sugar from August 25 through October 15 when migration winds down. Still, we keep hummingbird feeders up year round when wildflowers aren’t available.
Barnhart Ranch wildlife offers ample opportunities for keenly observant photographers. One frequent visitor, Miles Phillips, participated in the 2021 Wildlife in Focus Photo Contest. Eight of his stunning photographs, which he took on the ranch, placed in the contest. View Mr. Phillips’s award-winning shots on his website.
